Heart rate monitor and four sensors
Optical sensors on the back of the watch emit LED light, detect blood flow under the skin and measure heart rate. The heart rate monitor records data using an optical sensor and measures up to 220 bpm. The light from the LED penetrates the skin and underlying blood vessels and is absorbed or reflected according to the blood volume. The optical sensor measures the reflected light, determining the pulse rate.
Other sensors on the watch measure acceleration (pedometer), magnetic heading (compass), pressure (altimeter and barometer), and temperature (thermometer). These five high-precision sensor functions detect activity status in real time, especially outdoors.
The watch mode (which includes pedometer and notification function) can be powered by solar energy, with exposure for approximately 8 hours per day to indoor artificial lighting (500 lux) or to sunlight for 2 hours per week (10,000 lux).
Continuous operation in watch mode (which includes pedometer and notification functions) can be used for up to 12 months without solar energy.
The training mode (GPS with 1 sec. + HRM reception) can be used continuously for up to 14 hours, with a fully charged battery
